WOODWARD, Oklahoma -- A large fundraiser is planned for the family of one of six people who died in the Woodward tornado.

Sixty-three-year-old Steve "Mickey" Peil died while protecting his wife and her two granddaughters April 15. They lived in Hide-A-Way Mobile Home Park. Four of the six people who died lived in that park. Peil's wife Kathy has a long road to recover from a broken collarbone, a broken leg and broken arm.

The fundraiser May 26 will be held at the Corner Bar in Woodward. There will be an auction, food and games. Steve Peil's stepdaughter Jennifer Clark says the family appreciates the support.

"It makes me proud to know I am from here," said Clark. "And it goes to show how much he did for our community."

The auction begins at 3 p.m. May 26. For more information call 580-256-9074.
