The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting death in Lawton.

Brian Wesley King, Jr., 25, of Lawton was killed by police following a shooting in Cache and police pursuit into Lawton. It all began just after 1:00 a.m. Monday, May 14 when 911 operators received a call about a man breaking into a home at 611 West C in Cache. When police arrived, they found a man in the street who had been physically assaulted.

Police say King then came out of the house and fired several shots at officers, then took off in a van. Comanche County Deputies and Comanche Nation Officers located the van and began a pursuit toward Lawton on U.S. Highway 62.

Once King traveled inside the Lawton city limits, Lawton Police assisted in the pursuit which ended just before 2:00 a.m. at the 2400 block of Cornell Avenue. Police say King rammed a Comanche Nation Police vehicle and a Comanche County Sheriff's vehicle. Investigators say four officers shot at King, killing him.

When complete, the results of the OSBI's investigation will be sent to the Comanche County District Attorney. The D.A. will determine if the shooting was justified.
