Police say a man assaulted an officer while police were trying to break up a brawl in southeast Oklahoma City.

Police were called on May 13 to an events center at S.E. 44th Street and High. Officers said when they arrived, 24-year-old Robin Ramon Rodriguez charged one of the officers and knocked him to the ground.

Police said Rodriguez began punching the officer in the face. Another officer tried to pull Rodriguez off the officer, but could not. According to police, the officer punched Rodriguez and that finally stopped the assault. An officer then tased Rodriguez.

While Rodriguez was being handcuffed and arrested, officers said he began yelling he wanted to die and was trying to commit "suicide by cop."
