A suspect running from an armed robbery at the Tulsa Hills Shopping Center opened fire on an SUV early Sunday.

Tulsa police responded to the crime shortly after 7 a.m. They learned a man wearing a black hoodie robbed the Panera Bread at 7547 South Olympia Avenue.

"He implies a gun inside the store then leaves the Panera with an undetermined, small amount of cash," said Sergeant Ted Umbarger of the Tulsa Police Department.

The man, described as a black male about 6 feet tall, then ran out of the store into the parking lot. He saw a red sport utility vehicle and fired four to five shots at the vehicle.

"It was a 'get out of here,' an intimidation type act," Umbarger said.

No one was injured in the gunfire or robbery.

The robber ran to a red Ford Mustang Cobra where another person was waiting behind the wheel. They were last seen driving northbound out of the shopping center parking lot on Olympia Avenue, according to witness accounts.

The suspect's plastic sack of money apparently broke as he got away, and police found rolls of pennies and some loose bills on the ground.

A pregnant Panera Bread employee was treated at the scene by EMSA.

"She was visibly upset," Umbarger said. She did not have to be taken to the hospital.

If you can help police find the men who committed this robbery, call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
