Oklahoma City Sweeps Nashville In Doubleheader
NASHVILLE, Tennessee - The Oklahoma City RedHawks swept a doubleheader against the Nashville Sounds Thursday, taking the first game 4-3, followed by a 4-2 in the late game.
Oklahoma City jumped onto the board first, after a Brian Bixler double to open the game, Scott Moore brought him home three at-bats later to take a 1-0 lead. The RedHawks managed to load the bases in the top of the third, Moore drew a walk to score Jordan Lyles and Justin Ruggiano knocked a sacrifice fly to take a 3-0 lead.
Nashville cut the lead to one run thanks to a ground out and an RBI single from Sean Halton in the bottom of the third, but a Landon Powell single in the top of the sixth gave OKC a win.
Jordan Lyles (3-0) remained perfect on the season, despite giving up eight hits and three earned runs in 5.2 innings of service. Josh Butler (0-3) was credited with a loss for the outing, giving up three earned runs on five hits in five innings of service.
It was two big innings in the second game that lifted the RedHawks to the win.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, Jimmy Paredes hit a leadoff home run to tie the game. Three at-bats later, J.B. Shuck knocked a ground ball single to center field, bringing Carlos Corporan home to take a 2-1 advantage.
Corey Patterson hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game, but once again Paredes came up big for the RedHawks, hitting a two-run single to take a 4-2 advantage.
Oklahoma City will close the series and the road trip at 7:05 p.m. Friday, before returning home for an eight-game home stand.
