OKLAHOMA CITY -- Thieves ransack and rob the apartment of an Oklahoma City woman.

And while she lost a lot of valuables, the stolen item that means the most to her is irreplaceable. It was her father's ashes.

"They just saw a shiny box, and it was locked so I guess they assumed it was something valuable." said Robbyn Brooks. "Something valuable was in there, but not to them."

Robbyn said when she returned to her apartment on Thursday, April 12, the door was open. The robber had broken the door and got away with her TV, a Blu-ray player, a shotgun and DVD's. It wasn't until later, when she discovered her father's ashes were gone too.

"I couldn't figure out why," said Brooks. "The only thing I can think of is that they didn't realize it was ashes."

And now, she wants them back. Robbyn says her father, Robert Brooks, died of a heart attack in 2007. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base. During his time in the Air Force, he was stationed in Germany.

"I was planning on scattering his ashes to all of the places he traveled," she said.

But now, she feels robbed from that dream and holding on to all that was left of her father.

"I can replace the TV, everything else is going to get replaced," she said. "I can't replace that."

But what she can do, is hope the robber does the right thing, and returns her father's ashes. In fact, she hopes they see this story and at the very least, leaves the box of ashes on her front steps.
