RedHawks Top Nashville In Pitchers' Duel

After an extra-innings loss snapped their five-game win streak Wednesday, the Oklahoma City RedHawks got back to their winning ways Thursday with a 2-0 win over the Nashville Sounds, the team's sixth win of the season.

The RedHawks (6-2) got a quality start from Dallas Keuchel (2-0), who kept the Sounds (2-6) batters off balance and paced the Oklahoma City to the win. The right-handed pitcher finished after seven innings, giving up four hits and striking out five in the process.

Oklahoma City scored the only two runs of the game in the seventh inning, playing small ball to crack the scoreboard.

Fernando Martinez and Mike Hessman started the inning off with back-to-back singles, prompting Nashville to pull starter Josh Butler in favor of Victor Garate. Scott More laid down a sacrifice bunt in the next at-bat, advancing both runners to scoring position with just one out on the bard.

Oklahoma City made a substitution of its own, pinch hitting Justin Ruggiano in place of Colin DeLome, a move that paid off, with Ruggiano singling to right field, scoring Hessman and Martinez, giving OKC a 2-0 lead.

Having put the runners on base, Butler (0-2) received a loss for the outing, giving up five hits in six innings of service for the Sounds.

The RedHawks will try to make it back-to-back over the Sounds at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
