STILLWATER, Oklahoma – Not only did the Cowboys snap their conference losing streak on Friday, but they did so in dramatic fashion.
OSU rallied to put up three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, topping off an exciting comeback to win 7-6 over the Kansas Jayhawks.
Oklahoma State trailed 6-4 in the final inning but got a bit of a boost from Kansas starting pitcher Frank Duncan.
He had played the entire game up through the start of the ninth but walked OSU's Trey Whaley and followed that up by hitting Gabe Weidenaar to put runners on first and second.
Duncan was pulled, but his reliever wasn't able to conjure up anything better.
Saulyer Saxon pinch hit for the Cowboys, bunting the runners over to second and third, and pinch hitter Victor Romero was also hit by a pitch, loading the bases.
Hunter Bailey came through with the first big runs of the inning for Oklahoma State, belting a double to right field to bring home the first two runs and tie the game at six.
After another walk, Jared Womack played the hero role and singled to center to bring home the winning run and seal the victory.
The win snapped a three-game Big 12 losing streak for Oklahoma State, which improved to 15-14 overall and 2-5 in league play.
Blake Barnes got the win on the mound for the Cowboys, throwing four innings and giving up two hits in solid work. Andrew Heaney started the game but gave up five hits and five runs in five innings.
The two teams will continue their series Saturday in Stillwater. First pitch is set for 2:35 p.m. and the game will be televised on Fox Sports Net.
