Police say the two college students that were struck were crossing Ayers, but they were not in a marked crosswalk and one was carrying the other "piggyback" style.

There is conflicting information about the van that hit them. Police say it was either being followed by a black Mustang or was trying to pass the Mustang when it hit the girls.

Police say the van did not stop and drove off at a high rate of speed. They're still looking for the van tonight.

Both girls have been released from the hospital.
