The Oklahoma State Cowboys attempted a late comeback, but were unable to knock off the hot Bears, falling 3-2, giving Baylor its ninth consecutive win.

Baylor (21-7, 8-0) jumped out to an early lead, thanks to a solo home run from Dan Evatt in the bottom of the second and a catcher's interference in the bottom of the third, allowing Nathan Orf to score and take a 2-0 lead.

The Bears added what would be an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, thanks to another solo home run by Cal Towney.

However, Oklahoma State tried to make a comeback in the late innings. With two outs on the board in the top of the seventh, Mark Ginther singled to right field for the first base runner of the inning. Gabe Weidenaar followed with a double to left field to bring Ginther home to cut the lead to 3-1.

In the top of the eighth, Victor Romero drew a leadoff walk and Gage Green came in to pinch run. Zach Fish singled to center in the next at-bat, allowing Green to move to third base. Two at-bats later, Jarrett Higgins hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring Green home, cutting the deficit to just one run.

However, Baylor subbed in its closer, Tyler Brewer, who retired three of the four batters he faced to finish the game.

Trent Blank was credited with a win for the outing, giving up just two earned runs on four hits, striking out three in his seven innings of service. Kyle Ottoson came away with a loss, giving up two earned runs on seven hits and striking out six in his seven-inning outing.

Oklahoma State will try to avoid the series sweep at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, before a Tuesday-night matchup against Wichita State.
