Edmond Teen Convicted In Beating Classmate Released From Jail

An Edmond teenager convicted of beating a student at Edmond Memorial High School is out of jail.

Shakil Fields, 19, was released from the Oklahoma County jail on Thursday. He was sentenced to six months in jail and 10 years probation for attacking 17-year-old Blake Sanchez back in February 2011.

Sanchez suffered several head injuries after witnesses said Fields stomped on his head several times in a school bathroom. Fields said he became violent after he heard someone in the bathroom use a racial slur. Witnesses have testified it was not Sanchez.

A judge also ordered Fields to take anger management classes.
