Sand Springs Police Chief Mike Carter has confirmed to News On 6 that the department is investigating the drowning of a Tulsa toddler.

About 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, the Sand Springs fire and police departments were dispatched to 1300 North Northridge Court, where they found 19-month-old Gracie Schooley in a small koi pond.

A neighbor was performing CPR on the child until EMSA arrived and continued rescue attempts.

The child was transported to a hospital and declared dead.

Schooley was staying with her aunt, Nita Teague, when the drowning occurred. Authorities are still investigating, but at this time it looks like a tragic accident, Carter said.
