Looking for a teaching job? Putnam City Schools is holding a job fair for graduating education students or certified teachers from other districts from 2 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, at the district's administration building, 5401 N.W. 40th.

Teachers who attend the job fair will receive an interview with a school principal or assistant principal on site. Teachers also may schedule a job interview in advance of the job fair.

The job fair's "New Teacher Support Room" will be stocked with teachers and administrators who can share information about mentoring, training, expert assistance for new teachers, experienced curriculum staff and more.

Dr. April Grace, the district's executive director for Human Resources said the job fair helps prospective teachers by introducing them to the district and to school administrators.

"For people who want to teach in Putnam City, the job fair is an important. It's an opportunity to sit across the table from a principal in an interview. It's an opportunity to visit with our staff and learn how we help new teachers succeed. Probably 70 to 75 percent of teachers we hire are people we talk to at our job fair," Grace says.

Grace says that like other districts, Putnam City will need new teachers next school year.
