A southwest Oklahoma City teenager is recovering in the hospital after getting shot in the stomach during a home break-in.

It happened Monday morning near S.W. 104th and Western. Police say the intruder is still on the loose.

Oklahoma City police told News 9 this is the second time they have been called to this particular house on a reported break-in. The first was back in January, and the intruder was never caught.

During Monday morning's break-in, police were called after a gunshot went off inside the house. This all happened just after 10:30 a.m. in the 10000 block of McKinley Court.

Police taped off the area while they investigated the scene.

Police told News 9 the 17-year-old who was inside the home heard some noises coming from outside. He grabbed a rifle and went to investigate, when the intruder came up behind him.

The two got into a scuffle and the rifle went off. One of the bullets hit the teenager in the side.

Neighbors are stunned at the news.

"I walked outside and saw the caution tape around the neighbor's house, and the cops in the driveway, very frightening," Amber Clifford said.

Neighbors tell us that is a very calm and quiet area with very few break-ins. We checked Crime Tracker and there have been only a few break-ins within a couple mile of that address.

Police describe the intruder as a white male in his 30's with grayish hair. He was last seen wearing sunglasses, a black hoodie and jeans.

The teenager who was shot is expected to be okay.
