Oklahoma State avoided getting swept by Kansas Sunday, topping the Jayhawks 3-1 in the series finale to grab its first conference win of the season.

The teams traded scores in the opening inning, allowing the game to turn into a pitcher's duel later in the game.

After two innings, Kat Espinosa (9-5) came in to pitch for the Cowgirls in the third inning, as was credited with a win for her outing. The junior pitcher went five innings for OSU, giving up four hits and no earned run, striking out one batter.

Alicia Pille (10-4) got the start for KU, giving up three runs – just one earned – on five hits in her four innings of service.

Tied 1-1 heading into the top of the fourth, Chelsea Garcia came away with a single in the second at-bat of the inning. Samantha Davis reached on an error in the next at-bat and Amy Graham walked to load the bases.

Gessenia DeLaCruz followed with a single through the right side to bring Garcia home and take a 2-1 lead. Two at-bats later, Stephanie Brewer drew a walk, allowing Davis to score and give OSU a two-run lead.

Oklahoma State will take two days off before traveling to Oklahoma City, taking on the Oklahoma Sooners at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
