OCPD On the Lookout For Robbery, Murder Suspect
Police are on the lookout for a man they say could be responsible for robbery and murder at a north Oklahoma City apartment in January.
A warrant was issued for 23-year-old Darron Darrell Clayborn for the murder of Donte Deshawn McCarthur at The Woods apartments located in the 1400 block of north Council Rd. on Jan. 17.
According to the police report, McCarthur and two other men, Lawrence Bartlett and Brandon Dawson, were visiting the apartment complex to deliver one and a half pounds of marijuana to a female by the name of "Cinnamon".
During the deal, Dawson told police that two unknown black males wearing grey hoodies held up McCarthur in the breezeway between the apartments. One pulled an assault rifle from a brown bag and robbed Bartlett and Dawson of the marijuana.
Both Dawson and Bartlett say that while they were being robbed of the drugs, they heard a gunshot, where they believe McCarthur was shot and killed. They say the man who robbed them ran across Council and turned north. They never saw where the other man in the breezeway ran to.
Later police received a call from a parent who said their child witnessed the incident and recognized one of the persons involved, but was afraid to talk. That parent was told by their child that one of the persons involved in the shooting used to live at the complex, and knew him as Darron "Mississippi" Clayborn.
Clayborn is described as being 5'9" tall and weighs about 190 lbs. He was last seen driving a black 90's model Yukon with the back window busted out and covered by clear plastic. He also goes by the name Darron Fair. There were no mug shots of Clayborn on file.
If you have any information on his whereabouts, call Oklahoma City Police.
