Edmond Man Shot By Police Now In Serious Condition
EDMOND, Oklahoma - An Edmond man who forced police to shoot him on Tuesday is now in serious condition.
Police said 28-year-old Ricky Elder was upgraded from critical condition on Friday.
It happened outside of the Los Arcos Mexican Restaurant near 2nd Street and Bryant Avenue around 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, when officers responded to a shots-fired call.
Police said Elder wanted officers to kill him, and it turned out he called 911 himself to report gunfire.
An officer shot Elder after he refused to drop his weapon. He was transported to Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition on Tuesday.
Elder's gun turned out to not be real.
