Prosecutors filed charges against a woman who is accused of taking state money from disabled foster children.

Michelle Fausett faces three counts of financial exploitation of a disabled child. Court documents allege the fraud happened while Fausett was working at Department of Human Services.

Prosecutors allege Fausett took more than $3,600 from three children's supplemental security income funds.

Fausett had been working at DHS since May of 2008.

"We hold our employees to a very high standard, we will not tolerate inappropriate behavior of any type so whenever allegations like this come up we take that very seriously," DHS Spokesperson Mark Beutler said.

DHS says Fausett was let go in January, but would not specify if it was because of her accused crime.
