Country superstar Garth Brooks, singer Connie Smith and keyboard player Hargus "Pig" Robbins are the newest members of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

The announcement was made Tuesday at a news conference at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee.

Brooks took country music to a new level over a 15-year period, becoming the top-selling solo artist in the U.S. with more than 128 million albums sold.

Brooks lives in Owasso with his wife Trisha Yearwood.

Back in January, a Rogers County jury found in Brooks' favor in his lawsuit against a Yukon hospital. The jury awarded Brooks $500,000 in actual damages and additional $500,000 in punitive damages, the maximum agreed by both sides.

Brooks made a big impression during and after the trial by greeting fans and signing autographs, sometimes well into the night.
