Oklahoma City police need help catching a rapist on the run.

The assault happened early Sunday morning near a downtown bar. Police told News 9 a man with a long brown ponytail took advantage of a woman sitting in her car in an alley. He approached the woman outside of the Blue Note bar. She was crying, according to the police report.

The suspect walked up to ask the woman if she was okay, put his hand over her mouth, raped her, then took off.

The attack has people in the area on edge.

"I live up the street and yeah it worries me a little," Brittany Paramore said.

A bartender at Blue Notes said the attack happened after closing around 3 a.m.Sunday.

"We patrol outside every 15 to 30 minutes on a regular basis, but what we will do on the weekend nights, have a security person outside," said Blue Notes' owner, David Attalla.

Paramore said she won't depend on the bar to keep her safe.

"The times that I do go somewhere, I take my dog with me and he's pretty vicious when it comes to people messing with me, but yeah it scares me," she said.

Police say the attack happened in under a minute and people did scare the attacker off.

Although the bar has surveillance video, the man in the sketch can't be seen. If you recognize the man call crime stoppers at (405)-235-7300.
