Former Oklahoma Gov. and U.S. Sen. David Boren is supporting an effort to have a bipartisan presidential ticket on the November ballot in all 50 states, saying the country's two-party political system is in need of "shock therapy" to cut through hyper-partisan rhetoric.

Standing behind boxes containing more than 52,000 signatures of Oklahoma voters, Boren said Tuesday he has signed up to become a delegate for Americans Elect. The group is gathering signatures to place their candidates on the ballot in all 50 states.

It will have an online nominating convention to select a presidential and vice presidential candidate from opposite parties.

The group says it already has collected 2.5 million signatures and needs only 400,000 more to get on the ballot in every state.
