EDMOND, Oklahoma -- The 45th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest heats up in March, where 100 finalists will go head to head with their original recipes.

Among the 100 finalists is one of Oklahoma's own. Kathy Ault of Edmond hopes this year is the year she will win the one million dollar grand prize.

"I like to cook," said Kathy Ault, one of 100 finalist in the 45th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. "I just thought the odds were so much better at winning a million dollars in the bake-off than in a lottery."

Ault, a trial lawyer by day, has produced some of her best work you might say, in the kitchen.

"I'm a mom and a grandma and I've always liked to cook," said Ault. "You make something, you create something. You're an artist and it comes out so pretty."

This isn't Kathy's first time to be chosen as a finalist in Pillsbury's premier cooking event. She entered dozens and dozens of recipes for more than a decade and finally got her first entry in 2000 with her pumpkin raisin ginger cookies. She didn't win. Then, two years later, she competed again with her pecan pie ginger cheesecake, which did win her $2,000 in her category. Now, she's hoping this third and final entry will give her the big win.

"If I win the million dollars, I will have earned it because I work hard at it," said Ault with a laugh. "I'm not a natural. If I can do it, anybody can do it, let's just put it that way."

This year, Ault is entering her Stuffed Three-Seed Braid. However, she isn't the only Oklahoman to make the 100 list of finalists. Kathryn Friedl of Lawton entered her Tuscan Stromboli and Mary Shivers of Ada is going for the win with her Almond Chicken Crescent Crostini.

On Monday, March 26, the three Oklahoma women will prepare their original recipes side-by-side with the other 97 finalists in 100 GE mini kitchens at the Peabody Orlando Hotel. This year's celebrity host, Martha Stewart, will join these home cooks on the contest floor as they chop, slice and mix up their creations in four categories: Breakfast & Brunches, Entertaining Appetizers, Dinner Made Easy™ and Sweet Treats. Then, their recipes will be judged by a panel of food experts behind closed doors to select the contest's million-dollar winner.

Leading up to the contest finals in March, "The Martha Stewart Show" will feature "The Road to the Bake-Off® Contest," a series of segments chronicling the heart-warming tales of the talented home cooks vying for the $1 million grand prize, with Martha revealing the winner live on Hallmark Channel's "The Martha Stewart Show" on March 27.

"The Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest is a beloved tradition, and I am very excited to host the finals," said Martha Stewart. "This is a classic American event that celebrates creativity, showcases innovation, and honors the art and science of cooking and baking."
