The Oklahoma Sooners went coast-to-coast this season to amass 25 signees for their 2012 recruiting class, highlighted by two of the top players in Oklahoma, receiver Sterling Shepard and running back Alex Ross.

"This is an excellent class of 25 and I felt like we met our needs in all areas. When we were finished we felt that we had the numbers where we needed them," Bob Stoops said in a press release. "I feel very good about the way we finished and our ability to recruit in the last week of the recruiting period. We closed out well at the end of our recruiting window."

The Sooners have brought in the No. 8 class in the nation according to 247sports.com, getting a push Tuesday night earning the commitment of defensive end Mike Onuoha from Edmond Santa Fe High School. The state of Texas accounted for seven of the 25 signees, but the Sooners secured commitments from players in 11 different states in 2012.

"It feels good to have the ability to recruit as many states as we did and bring in student-athletes from 11 different states," Stoops said. "Having the reputation that gives you the opportunity to recruit nationally is really beneficial to this program."

Oklahoma is now set for spring practice, which opens March 5, and Oklahoma will officially start the 2012 season Sept. 1, with an opponent that will be determined later.
