Iowa State Buzzer Beater Downs Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State fell to Iowa State in a heartbreaking buzzer beater as time expired to give the Cyclones the 71-68 advantage.

With the game tied at 68, Iowa State's Scott Christopherson launched a three pointer that kissed the glass and banked in to seal the Cyclone victory.

Oklahoma State played from behind for much of the game, but it wasn't because of a lack of effort.

At the break the Cyclones Led 31-29 with both teams shooting nearly 28 percent from behind the arc and ISU shooting slightly better than the Cowboys at 43.5 percent.

Keiton Page and Le'Bryan Nash led the Cowboys in their second half charge.

Down the stretch, Nash scored to give OSU a 66-60 lead, but Iowa Stat answered with a three pointer. A set of free throws by Page put the Cowboys up 68-65, but Tyrus McGee netted a three-point bucket to tie the game.

Oklahoma State had a chance for the final shot with the score tied at 68, but ISU's McGee knocked the ball off Markel Brown's leg, and it rolled out of bounds with 4.8 seconds left, giving the Cyclones possession.

The Cyclones inbounded the ball to Christopherson who dribbled up the floor, stopped two feet from the 3-point line and launched his game winner Page.

The officials had to review the play, but ruled that the basket stood and Iowa State came out with the 71-68 win.

Page finished with 21 points and five assists on 5-of-8 shooting from behind the arc. Nash also totaled 21 points on the game while Michael Cobbins shot 5-of-6 from the floor and finished with 10 points.

Iowa State (13-5, 3-2) had three players score 17 points a piece in Christopherson, Royce White and Tyrus McGee who made 5-of-9 from three point range.

OSU improved its shooting in the second half shooting 59.3 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from the three-point line.

The Iowa State advantage came in second chance points where they netted 10 to OSU's two as well as in points off the bench. The Cyclones has 19 points from non-starters while OSU had only four.

Oklahoma State( 9-9, 2-3) returns home to host Kansas State on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 12:30 p.m.
