Murdered Fire Chief May Give Life Even In Death

OKLAHOMA CITY – Through his tragic death, murdered Nichols Hills Fire Chief Keith Bryan may help someone else live.

His death may be the lifeline for the Oklahoma City Fire Department's chaplain, Ted Wilson. Wilson is in need of a new liver.

The two men even joked about such a donation several weeks ago.

"Keith jokingly said, ‘Well, it might be a good thing, but one of these days I will give you my liver," said Bryan's brother-in-law, David Reddick.

What was a joke may now become reality.

"He gave his word on something and he would break his back to make sure it was good." Reddick said.

"A hero in life and death," are the words Reddick used to describe his brother-in-law and best friend.

Reddick said that Keith, at 31, was the youngest fire chief ever in the state. He was also willing to work on a moment's notice.

Reddick cited an incident where Reddickk kicked in the windshield of a burning car and pulled a person to safety.

Chief Bryan not only served the Nichols Hills community, bet he also he sat on the Mustang city council for six years.

Flags waved at half staff outside the Mustang City Hall Wednesday.

"He was always a very informed, attentive council member when he was here. He was very involved in everything we did," Rutledge said.

Gray skies now surround the communities that are mourning a man that gave so much in life and may be giving even in death.

"Oklahoma City, Nichols Hills, Mustang, they cannot forget a man that had as big a footprint as Keith Bryan," Reddick said.

It has not been confirmed that if the liver donation has taken place.
