KINGFISHER, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating an early morning collision which left one person dead and sent another one to the hospital Wednesday.

The accident occurred about 5:20 a.m. on SH 33 about eight miles east of Kingfisher, the OHP reported.

The trooper's report said a semi-trailer rig driven by Jimmy Lee Havener of El Reno was westbound on SH 33 when a Dodge pickup being driven eastbound swerved off the roadway and then back onto the road into the path of the semi.

The driver of the pickup was killed in the collision, but his identity has not been released by authorities.  A passenger in the pickup, 21-year-old Melissa Jackson of Oklahoma City was transported to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center by air ambulance in stable condition.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
