NORMAN, Oklahoma -- If you live in Norman want to get a safe room, now is the time to get that done.

The city is giving an added incentive. Starting this week, Norman residents can apply for a government rebate to help cover the cost.

The rebate is worth 75% of the total cost of installation, up to $2,500. The money is good for either an above ground or inground shelters.

Applications will be available for 30 days or until the city gets 1,000 applications, whichever comes first. Applications are available at the Fire Administration building.
