OSU Board Of Regents To Meet Wednesday About Conference Affiliation

The Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents have scheduled a special meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday, to discuss conference affiliation.

STILLWATER, OK -- The Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents have scheduled a special meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday, to "consider matters relating to athletic conference membership."

OSU President Burns Hargis released the following statement regarding the special meeting:

"I am pleased the Board of Regents has scheduled this special meeting concerning conference affiliation. Oklahoma State has attractive options, and we are working with our colleagues at the University of Oklahoma to make sure the best interests of both institutions and our state are achieved. We will be prepared at the appropriate time to take whatever steps are necessary for Oklahoma State. The OSU Regents share our desire to see this matter resolved as soon as possible."

"We have been kept informed by President Hargis, who has been actively and deeply involved in discussions for several weeks. We have called this special meeting of the Board to discuss conference affiliation," said OSU/A&M Board of Regents Chairman Jay Helm. "We appreciate the strong leadership of President Hargis to ensure the best interest of Oklahoma State is represented in any and all discussions concerning conference alignment."

This announcement was made on the same day OU's board of regents is meeting.  The board of regents released an agenda for Monday's meeting, which included an item named "Conference Alignment."

The agenda states that the group will discuss the potential legal ramifications of realignment and will "consider new athletic conference membership."

The meeting will be held in Click Family Alumni Hall at OSU's ConocoPhillips Alumni Center in Stillwater.
