Norman Chamber Approves Animal Shelter Resolution

NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The Norman Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted Monday to approve a resolution in support of funding construction of a new animal shelter. The vote passed unanimously.

The need for a new animal shelter has been substantiated through an independent third party study and the current facility is exceptionally outdated, constructed in the 1970's and offers no quarantine space and lacks capacity needs among many other issues.

"The Norman Chamber wants to strongly encourage our community to support funding the construction of a much needed new animal shelter," said John Woods, President and CEO. "How we respond to this pressing need is a reflection of the character and compassion of our city. This is the first of many quality of life projects we must begin to support for the long term vitality of our City."

Norman officials hope the new animal shelter will improve the quality of life for all Norman residents.
