OKLAHOMA CITY -- Helmed by two of the state's most talented players, the Heritage Hall Chargers topped rival Casady for the second straight year in dominant fashion, knocking off their cross-town rival 49-8 Thursday.

Sooner commit Sterling Sheppard shined from the start, returning the opening kick 95 yards for a score, putting the Chargers up 7-0 before the offense even took the field. Heritage Hall added another score on defense, thanks to Brandon Moews' 14-yard scoop and score to take a 14-0 advantage 29 seconds into the game.

After holding the Cyclones to back-to-back scoreless drives, Heritage Hall quarterback Quinn Shanbour connected with Sheppard for an 11-yard touchdown, taking a three-score lead early in the fourth quarter. The Chargers forced yet another three-and-out, setting up another Shanbour to Sheppard connection, this time a 49-yard strike to take a 28-point lead to end the first quarter.

Not to be outdone, Barry Sanders, Jr. – who is widely regarded as the top player in the state – rattled off a 25-yard touchdown score to put Heritage Hall ahead 35-0 with 10:46 left in the quarter.

Shanbour threw yet another first-half touchdown pass, the third a 63-yard screen to Cale Courtney to put the Chargers up 42-0 heading into halftime.

Sanders scored once more for Heritage Hall, a six-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter to put the Chargers in front 49-0, the Chargers' final touchdown of the contest.

Sheppard finished the game having touched the ball just six times in the contest, three of them going for scores, while Sanders finished turned in a two-touchdown performance in the season opener.

The Chargers will next travel to Clinton for a Friday matchup with Red Tornadoes, while Casady will try to notch its first win on the road against Oklahoma Christian School.
