EDMOND, Oklahoma – Edmond police have arrested two teenage girls accused of asking people to use their cell phones, and then running away with them.

All the witnesses told police the girls would ask to use their phones. When the victims handed over the cell phones, one of the girls would ask for a glass of water. The victims say when they left to get the water, the girls would run away with their phones.

Police received several calls on August 21 about the cell phone thefts. That same day, witnesses told police the teenage suspects were seen walking down E. 15th Street. Officers checked the area, and a clerk at a 7-Eleven store told officers the two suspects had hidden in the store's bathroom for a while and left a few minutes earlier.

Officers found the suspects at the Stratford Square Apartment complex and detained them. While questioning the teens, officers found three cell phones in their possession. They were all later identified as stolen.

The suspects, both juveniles, were arrested. They could be charged with larceny.
