EDMOND, Oklahoma -- The storm ripped through Edmond around one Wednesday morning.

People near 8th and Broadway woke to a fire.

A large tree fell on an electrical wire and sparked flames.

And a church steeple was no match for Mother Nature.

The pastor of Waterloo Road Baptist Church said it will not affect Wednesday night church services.

The daylight exposed more damage.

Uprooted trees fell on cars, keeping some residents from leaving for work.

The storm also left hundreds without power.  Edmond Electric crews went to work early restoring power.

"They had to put up more power poles and restring more lines," said Ashleigh Clark, spokeswoman for the City of Edmond.

It seems a storm of this power never comes at a good time.

"The last week of June we converted at 35-millimeter projectors to digital.  It's a great experience.  I can't believe it's all gone," said Jeremy Weigel, a Kickingbird Cinema employee.

Weigel was inside the building when the storm passed over.

"I was down inside the auditorium on the south end of the building with another employee, heard what sounded like  a rolling across the top of the roof.  The sound we heard was the roof being peeled back by the high winds," he said.

And now the cleanup starts for residents and businesses one tree branch at a time.
