There's an interesting new phenomenon on the social networking site Facebook that illustrates how I think a lot of Americans are feeling these days.

It's called "Remember Edmond, Oklahoma when…"and then you complete the sentence with one of your fond memories of your hometown.

And it's not just Edmond. These pages are popping up for towns all over Oklahoma and across the country.

They're pages dedicated to the good old days, however long ago they might have been.

And they're attracting 20 somethings to 70 and 80 somethings.

It's fun to get on there and reminisce, but the memories people are sharing are quite telling.

Do you remember the scary cemetery? Going to the movie for a quarter? What kind of car you drove? Favorite teachers? Stores and restaurants that are long gone are spoken of with great fondness.

One thing you hardly ever see on these pages is how much better things are now.

There seems to be a collective yearning to return to simpler times, when you dropped your kids off at the public pool and didn't think twice about them until they came walking home at dinner time.

It's more than just being nostalgic, people posting on these Remember When pages seem to be asking the question... could it be that way again?
