OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City Police say it appears someone threw a Molotov cocktail at a house in northeast Oklahoma City early Wednesday morning.
The fire started after 1:30 a.m. at a duplex near N.E. 23rd Street and Prospect. When firefighters arrived, they saw flames and smoke pouring from the house. Battalion Chief Kirk Wright says firefighters had a difficult time knocking down the fire. Even at 2 a.m., the high temperature combined with the heat from the fire created dangerous conditions for fire crews.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire within 90 minutes.
No one was home when the fire started. The homeowner was staying with a family member at the time. Fire crews say the blaze caused about $40,000 in damage.
Although investigators suspect a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the house, they're still investigating to determine an exact cause of the fire.
