MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- Two suspects will likely spend the Fourth of July holiday behind bars after bungling a burglary at a Midwest City fireworks stand.

Employees of the fireworks stand at 1201 N. Sooner Road arrived at work at 5 a.m. and spotted the suspects. They called Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office to report the crime.

When the deputy and his K-9 partner arrived, the two suspects ran into a nearby wooded area. The deputy and the dog tracked the two to an SUV, but couldn't reach the vehicle before it drove off. The deputy put out a description of the vehicle, and an officer from Nicoma Park located the SUV at N.E. 23rd Street and Midwest Boulevard. He pulled over the car and verified the two people inside matched the description of the suspects.

Deputies arrested 19-year-old Deontae Thomas and a 15-year-old juvenile male. Thomas is in custody at the Oklahoma County Detention Center on complaints of burglary and eluding an officer. The juvenile was taken to the Oklahoma County Juvenile Detention Center.
