Norman Residents Continue To Clean Up Storm Debris

NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The initial damage estimate from last week's storm in Norman is $9.5 million. Almost all of that is residential damage, and a sizeable chunk of that is damage to trees.

Monday morning, an Austin, Texas-based company began the task of picking up the tree debris residents have moved to the curbside. T.F.R., Inc has a contract with the city of Norman, so it has done this kind of work in Norman before, particularly after the ice storms of December 2007.

Kevin Rolison of T.F.R has seen a lot of storm damage this spring, including the tornado damage in Alabama.

"I don't think it's anything you could get used to," Rolison said.

Norman resident John Sexton had his chainsaw fired up early in order to get his tree debris to the curbside. He lived through the 2007 ice storm, and he says getting tired of storm damage at his house.

"Tired enough that on Wednesday I'm going to Florida," Sexton said.

Trucks will pickup debris in the neighborhoods Tuesday, June 21, and Wednesday, June 22, and concentrate on cleanup in parks on Thursday, June 23, and Friday, June 24.

The truck will return to neighborhood debris cleanup the following week on Monday and Tuesday.
