NORMAN, Oklahoma -- More than a dozen people are homeless after a fire destroyed units at a Norman apartment complex Tuesday evening.
It happened at the Chateau Normandy apartment units on Northwest 24th street in Norman.
Residents said the fire started on the 2nd floor of a balcony. People described a loud a explosion followed by flames, which caused the roof to collapse.
In all, eight units were destroyed. No one was hurt but more than 14 people are left homeless.
Many of the fires victims didn't have renters insurance. The Red Cross is providing shelter and temporary assistance to the people who lost their homes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
