Police Stand-Off Puts Nearby School On Lockdown

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City police are searching for two shooting suspects possibly involved in a triple shooting in northwest Oklahoma City that occurred just after 11:30 Tuesday night.

Police said they are searching for the McKinley Anthony Smith Jr., 31, and Lydell Rayshon Hamon, 26, in a home in the 4100 block of N.W. 60th Street and blocked off N. Tulsa Avenue between N.W. 61 and N.W. 59.

Police said Smith and Hamon should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Oklahoma City police have taken "several people" from the home, but none were the suspects being sought. A mother, one child and an infant came out of the house. Those people have said the home is now empty.

SWAT team members went to clear the home to be certain.

The stand-off is affecting three Putnam City Schools according to Steve Lindley, the district's public information officer. Students at Coronado Heights Elementary, Springdale Early Childhood Development Center and Rollingwood Elementary are under a modified lockdown at this time.

A modified lockdown means that interior and exterior doors are locked, but classes continue. Visitors arriving at exterior doors are escorted into the building by staff members.

Lindley said that if the police activity in the area continues through dismissal times, students will be escorted to their parents' cars or to their buses by faculty and staff.

Police said they received a call about a disturbance going on at the Westwood Villa Apartments in the 3900 block of N.W. 9th Street Tuesday night, but as they were driving to the scene they learned it was actually a shooting.

When police arrived, they discovered Paula Scott, 25, Darrall Love, 22, and Amanda Jackson, 28, had been shot. Scott and Love were critically injured. Jackson suffered non life-threatening injuries.

Jackson was able to talk to police before being taken to the hospital.

"The two listed in critical were hit in the head, and the one that's stable was hit somewhere in the upper torso," said Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Tommy Joyce.

Investigators said there was some sort of fight involving several people that lead to the shooting, but they don't know yet what triggered the argument.
