Despite Ordinance, Wind Turbines Could Be Built In Osage County

OSAGE COUNTY -- Osage County Commissioners say they can't stop companies from building massive wind turbines on the tall grass prairie.

They passed an ordinance to provide some regulations for the turbines Monday, but said even if it's not enacted, companies have a right to build.

The ordinance sets guidelines for wind turbines, specifying things like color, how close they can be to homes, access roads and blade heights.

Some are worried wind turbines will be an eye sore and harm wildlife.
