DENVER, Colorado -- More people could soon be approved to have weight loss surgeries. The Food and Drug Administration has approved one company's request to market its stomach shrinking "Lap Band" to more patients according to the Denver Post.
Allergen is one company that makes the "Lap Band" and says it just found that it can now market the weight loss device to patients who have a Body Mass Index between 30 and 40 and have at least one weight related medical condition, like high blood pressure or diabetes.
Previously, people had to have a BMI of at least 40 and a weight related medical issue.
