Driver's 'Donuts' Spark Snowy Police Chase In Edmond

A man caught doing donuts in an Edmond street ended up in a hospital bed and handcuffs.

EDMOND, Oklahoma -- A man caught doing donuts in an Edmond street ended up in a hospital bed and handcuffs.

Edmond police said they spotted 19-year-old Omar Alloul doing donuts at the intersection of Covell and Boulevard around 4 a.m. Wednesday. Officers said when they tried to stop him, Alloul sped away. Police chased him and speeds reached up to 60 mph.

The chase ended when Alloul crashed into a snow bank. He jumped out of the car and ran away. Police searched for him for three hours and later found him in the Brookhaven neighborhood between a house and a fence.

He was taken to the hospital and treated for extreme exposure before his released into police custody and booked into jail.

He was driving a Nissan Altima he had taken from a friend without permission. Police said they believe Alloul had been drinking. He faced charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and attempting to elude police.
