OKLAHOMA CITY -- High winds and freezing temperatures will stay in Oklahoma through the week.

Sleet has spread across southwestern portions of the state and has moved northeast into central Oklahoma. The winter mix will change over to heavy snow. Most of the state will receive 8 to 12 inches of snow with isolated locations getting significantly higher amounts.

Winds will be from the north at 20 to 40 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected. This will not only lower visibilities, but also cause significant snow drifts.

Temperatures will start off Wednesday around 20 and get down into the teens, this will put wind chills below zero. Temperatures will continue to drop down into the single digits Wednesday morning with highs only in the teens Wednesday afternoon.

Central Oklahoma will not get above freezing until Friday afternoon.

This will be a major blizzard for Oklahoma and Oklahoman's should stay inside.
