Giving A 'Heart' For A Heart

ADA, Oklahoma -- Three-month-old Emma Stewart was born with only a partial heart. She and her parents now live in Dallas while they wait for a new heart for Emma.

Her grandfather, Scott Estes, lives in Ada.

"The pressing need at this moment is a new heart," he said. "Without it she will not be able to survive."

Estes' co-worker, Cheryl Yott, has a bull calf named Tinman because of the heart-shaped birthmark on his forehead.

"I could not sell him with the heart on the head because in my heart I knew there was a special purpose for this cow," Yott said.

She decided, instead of selling him, to make him the grand prize at a dinner and auction to raise money for the Stewart family.

"It would mean so much more to her," said Yott. "And I feel like this is something God wants me to do."

The dinner and auction will be February 11 at 6 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ada where Tinman will be the grand prize.

Estes said a photo of Tinman sits atop Emma's hospital bed in Dallas.

Many people are also helping to raise money for the family by buying wristbands that say "Hope For Emma's Heart."
