Alleged Drunk Driver Crashes Through Fence, Onto I-44 After Short Pursuit

OKLAHOMA CITY -- An alleged drunk driver led police on a short pursuit before crashing on I-44 Monday night.

Oklahoma City Police said residents reported a drunk driver in the area. An officer spotted the vehicle and pulled over a man in his 40s on N.W. 18th Street just west of Portland Avenue. When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver took off traveling eastbound on 18th Street.

When the roadway ended the driver continued through a fence and onto I-44 where he crashed the vehicle into a median between N.W. 10th Street and N.W. 23rd Street.

The man suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect's identity has not been released.
