TULSA, Oklahoma -- A 16-year-old fired a shotgun round into the floor of his family's apartment to break up a fight between his mother and her husband early Sunday morning at the Roserock Apartments Complex, 1900 S. Memorial in Tulsa.

Police responding to a shots fired call at about 1:30 a.m. were in a standoff outside the family's apartment after they learned the shooting suspect was still inside along with four other people.

All occupants came out safely after about 20 minutes.

Tulsa Police Corporal Brett Bilyeau said there had been a fight between the husband and wife living in the apartment.

The woman's teenage son and a friend who was staying with him intervened physically, striking the husband. The teenager then went into a bedroom, got a shotgun and fired off one round into the floor.

The teen was taken into custody on complaints including domestic assault and battery and reckless discharge of a firearm.
