OKLAHOMA CITY -- New House Speaker Kris Steele of Shawnee and Senate President Pro Tem Brian Bingman of Sapulpa have appointed two new members to the Judicial Nominating Commission.

Steele said Friday he has appointed David K. Hill, chief executive officer of Kimray, to the panel. Bingman says he named Dr. Don P. Murray.

The commission makes nominations to the governor to fill vacant judicial seats, including district and workers compensation courts, the courts of civil and criminal appeals and the state Supreme Court.

In November, voters approved State Question 752 giving the speaker and Senate president pro tem a selection to the Judicial Nominating Commission. Supporters of the ballot measure say it will provide more input into the judicial selection process.

The appointees serve a two-year term without compensation.
