Report Ranks Best And Worst Water Bottling Distributors

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A new report released by the Environmental Working Group rated the best and worst water bottling companies based on the information made available to the public.

The EWG analyzed the labels of 173 unique bottled water products and company websites to determine if companies disclosed information on where water comes from, how or if their water is treated, and whether the results of purity testing are revealed.

Here is a list of how the top selling brands rated.

• Ozarka Natural Spring Water: EWG grade = D
• Pure Life Purified Water: EWG grade = B
• Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water: EWG grade = C
• Aquafina Purified Drinking Water: EWG grade = D
• Dasani Purified Water: EWG grade = D
• Deer Park Natural Spring Water: EWG grade = D
• Ice Mountain Natural Spring Water: EWG grade = D

Ozarka Natural Spring Water received a "D," but that does not include water from the Ozarka plant in Oklahoma City. The Ozarka in the survey is the one owned by Nestle. The local Ozarka company only bottles five and ten gallons jugs and was not included in the survey.

Only three brands earned the highest possible marks for disclosing information and using the most advanced treatment methods available: Gerber Pure Purified Water, Nestle Pure Life Purified Water, and Penta Ultra-Purified Water.
