OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma drivers are paying a lot more these days to fill up their gas tanks.

According to AAA's gasoline price tracking website, FuelGaugeReport.com, prices at the pump have jumped 14 cents in the last 30 days.

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Oklahoma is now $2.90, up from $2.76 just a month ago. That's 40 cents higher than the average price of gas one year ago. Nationally, drivers are paying $3.07 per gallon.

"Although crude oil is down in price today, these retail pump prices are reflective of what crude has done lately, and that's to rise," said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma. "The market really seems to lack direction, responding instead to every new headline and economic forecast that comes along. Today's prices seem to be a function of strong inventories, a steady dollar and a decline in manufacturing activity in China."
