OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City firefighters evacuated people from the historic Colcord Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City after concerns over dust from a nearby construction site.

Dust from construction at the new Devon Tower caused concern which led crews to evacuate people from the hotel at 15 N. Robinson Avenue at about 5:15 p.m.

It is unclear is someone mistook the dust for smoke from a fire.

The Colcord was built in 1910 and served as an office and commercial place for almost 90 years. In 1976, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building underwent a $16 million renovation in 2006 and is now a luxury hotel.

The building celebrated its 100th year in 2010.
