OKLAHOMA CITY -- The McGuinnes library is asking for new or gently used books to pass out to children at the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner.

The Red Andrews' Christmas Dinner at the Cox Convention Center has been serving Christmas dinner to needy families for over 50 years.

This year organizers are anticipating about 3,500 children to attend the dinner at the Cox Convention Center on Christmas Day.

"Our goal is to give each child a book for Christmas," said Kathy O'Meara, Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School I.T. and Web Director.

McGuinness students and faculty have donated over 400 books, but organizers said more are still needed. Donations can be dropped off at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School until Dec. 17.

"I am very excited that Bishop McGuinness students have embraced this idea," said Red Andrews Dinner organizer, Pam Noble. "This is the first time that we have attempted to provide a pastime for the children as they are waiting in line."

Donations after Dec. 17 can be dropped off at the Toy and Donation Drop Off site located in the shopping center at 16th and N. Meridian. Donors can also email Kathy O'Meara at komeara@bmchs.org to make arrangements for pick up.

Anyone interested in donating some time to read stories to the children on Christmas Day between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. should email Kathy O'Meara at komeara@bmchs.org.
